i’m podcast famous! also, i’m an asshole.

17 09 2012

i’m a lucky lady. in the whole almost 3 years of this blog (my blogiversary is on the 23 if anyone wants to get wasted on cheap champagne with me), i’ve gotten nominated for stuff, got to speak at stuff, guest posted on a whole mess of wonderful bogs, and met a shitload of wonderful people.  but because i’m also an asshole ( a lucky asshole), i don’t say thank you enough.  or in this particular case, soon enough. weekend pickthrough- writing binge edition.

6 06 2011

i love that this hot construction worker is wearing business casual attire and FULL MAKE UP.

it’s been several weeks of minimal action, and i finally feel like i’m bobbing to the surface again. after a friday night writing date (as it turns out $.50 refills at starbucks are actually a thing) with my dear friend kate, something in my brain just sort of exploded (in a good way, not an aneurysm way). as if whatever was causing the clog finally gave way, and all the words just gushed right out.

i’ve actually had kind of a bummer weekend, but being able to write again makes me feel like the construction related traffic on the highway to normalcy might be starting to clear up. that said, while we’re waiting for the stop sign to swtich to slow… here are a couple of nice distracting links: Read the rest of this entry »

i am not a monster!!!

22 04 2011

when i first conceived the IKEAbus many moons ago, everyone seemed really excited about it.  it was positive vibes all around, and it propelled me forward to the point where i actually put my tax return money down on a bus, in hopes that i could actually  fill it up with swedish furniture loving folks with $30 to spare. (ta da!)

a few weeks in and a few tickets (very few at that point) sold, i posted an article on the wsch around town blog about it, thinking that might be a good place to drum up some local enthusiasm. instead, i got this:

i didn’t know what to say. so stupidly, i said nothing (i really aught to rectify that).

well, i’ve spent the last few weeks ruminating about it, and here is what i have decided: Read the rest of this entry »

i’m channel 6 famous!

24 03 2011

i hate watching myself on film. i hate my voice. i make funny squinty faces and wave my hands around too much… it makes me cringe. but every now and again, a girl has to get on camera for the greater good. (and no, girls gone wild does not count as the greater good).

well, i’ve been posting on the wcsh6 around town blog for a while, and a couple of weeks ago their fabulous community web producer asked me if i would be in a promo spot for the website.

scary, right? but who am i to turn down free publicity, and the opportunity to help out someone who helped me out.

the process was actually really fun and totally not traumatizing. the producer and camera man came over to my house, microphoned me up, and asked me a bunch of questions. i tried not to look like a fidgety spaz. the best part was when we were done filming and we all hung out and talked about nerd stuff. i also love that in the final cut, my apartment is heavily featured.

well, as if recording my very first (and likely last) commercial wasn’t enough… Read the rest of this entry »
