yesterday didn’t happen. well it did, but i was trapped in the rehearsal bubble for 9.5 hours, emerging only to yell FEET FEET FEET FEET before ripping off my shoes and tossing myself on the sofa face down. michael bennett was clearly a sadist. since when does it seem like a good idea for ANYONE to perform ballet in HEELS? but seriously, come mid-march, i will be essentially excuse-free when it comes to post welching. but for today, just assume that i was taking the day off to honor the presidents.

anyway, on top of the utter awesomeness that is the phoenix best of nomination (my mom called me at work today to inform me that she had viewed the other nominees, and that i still had her endorsement), i also finally started my new gig over at coupon evolution, AND the portland twitter examiner gave me a really hot pimp. it’s only monday, but i think this is gonna be a pretty good week.

weekend pickthough- shiny and new edition.

in 2010, i had hoped that i would have both the time and the cash to give the ole website a total overhaul. well, that didn’t happen. but i did think that was time at least for a teensy little update. so voila! a shiny new pile of icons (for all the contact and social media crap you guys could ever want), and now even though it’s still a free wordrpress blog… the URL looks like a real website (broke207.wordpress.com still works too)! not entirely monumental, but at least SOMETHING. perhaps this month i will see if there is anything else worth tweaking (any suggestions?). but for now, you should probably thank me for these nice new updates by nominating me for best blog on the phoenix best of 2011 poll.

weekend pickthrough- greetings from moose mountain edition.

vacation is awesome! well, except for the part where i’m horribly bloated from starchy diner food and my neck hurts because my motor lodge pillows are too firm. but hey, i’m far away in a beautiful place (moosehead!) with nothing to do but sleep, snack, read trashy novels, horribly fail at NYT crosswords, and spend 5 hours straight catching up on this season of project runway. bliss. anyway, my wireless connection is spotty at best, and i’ll possibly be doing some vacationy stuff like riding on boats, hiking up mountains, and getting terrible sunburns, so i’ll be in and out this week. however, i will not forget you! i have every intention of posting on my regular schedule, although i’m sure the content will be tainted with my carb drunkenness, regular drunkenness, sun stroke, sea sickness, and the kind of apathy for work that can only come with 5 hours in bed with a danielle steel novel. just sayin, i warned you.

you may or may not have noticed a few new items that have popped up in the sidebar over the last week. the most brightly colored of the two is a small graphic attempting to entice you to vote for me in the portland phoenix “best of” poll.  best blog that is. i’m not really sure if i think i’m the best of anything at this point (it’s only been about 3 months), but i am trying real hard to get more people from my area to be aware that i exist. i seem somehow to be least able to communicate to the group that i am writing specifically for (although i hope that i do have at least a little appeal for those of you who are tragically “from away”). anyway, this would be a really good way for me to say “hey portland! i’m over here!”. but if you’d like some other options, here are a few portland blogs that i’m very fond of:
